An Italian summer in the heart of Oslo
When the sun comes out over Fridtjof Nansens plass, Prima Fila moves outside. Our terrace sits in the very heart of central Oslo, right by Oslo City Hall, a stone's throw from Nationaltheatret and Aker Brygge. Here you can enjoy Italian flavours in your glass and on your plate while the city hums gently around you. It's the closest thing to a piazza you'll find in Oslo: quality ingredients, fresh pasta, pizza from the wood-fired stone oven and a glass of wine in the summer warmth.
The atmosphere on the square
Fridtjof Nansens plass is one of the city's most beautiful outdoor spaces, open and airy with City Hall as the backdrop. Our tables are close enough to feel the Italian buzz, yet spacious enough for you to linger. It's a lovely spot for a quick lunch between meetings, a long dinner at sunset or a bottle of wine with good friends. The terrace suits a table for two just as well as larger parties; if you're a bigger group, get in touch and we'll find room.
Season and opening hours
The terrace is seasonal and follows the weather and the Norwegian summer. As soon as conditions allow in spring, we set up the tables outside, and we stay open outdoors through the summer and into early autumn as long as the temperature cooperates. Indoors, our opening hours are Monday-Tuesday 12:00-22:00, Wednesday 12:00-22:30, Thursday-Saturday 12:00-23:00 and Sunday 15:00-22:00. On fine days we recommend arriving early or booking ahead, as the best sunny spots go fast.
The weather decides
Oslo weather has a temper of its own, and the terrace depends on it behaving. On days with rain or strong wind, we may have to close the terrace or move guests into the Italian-inspired dining room. Can I reserve an outdoor table?
To secure a spot outside, we recommend reserving a table in advance. It's easy to do through our booking system, and you can let us know in the comments field that you'd like to sit outside. We'll do our best to make it happen, but whether a specific outdoor table can be guaranteed depends on the weather, the season and availability on the day. Outside, we serve the same menu as indoors: fresh pasta made from scratch, pizza baked in our wood-fired stone oven and Italian classics prepared with fine Norwegian produce.
